What the hell does the name mean?!
"ayatsuri ningyou" is Japanese for "puppet on a string" or "marionette". I first stumbled upon this expression in the song "Successful mission" (sung by HAYASHIBARA Megumi) from the anime "Saber Marionette J".
Here's an excerpt of the song (the first chorus) that contains it:
ayatsuri-ningyou na mainichi no naka de
ZERO to mugen no hazama wo mayotte-iru
karamatta ito wo tachigiru chikara wa
kimi no kokoro no naka ni mada nemutte-iru
Day in, day out, like a puppet on a string
Wandering the void between zero and infinity
The strength to sever the tangled strings
Still sleeps within your heart
I immediately liked the sound of "ayatsuri nignyou" and could (and still can) relate to the lyrics of the song. However, it took several years for me to register the actual domain. Why is that, you ask? Well, I'll tell you once I have a bit more time to get it written down in a decent manner.
As you might have gathered, there's much more to "ayatsuri ningyou" than just the pretty sound, but explaining that would take several pages so, for now, this short introduction will have to suffice ;)
